International Design Awards for VIKING Gardening Products
VIKING recently was pleased to be awarded with two prestigious, international design awards within a very short time of each other.
The brand new VIKING electric grass trimmer TE 410 was recognized with the "red dot design award 2004" in the class Design-Quality and came out on top in this design competition. The grace of the trimmer is very attractive and - important to the consumer - the user-friendly features are excellent.
The "iF design award 2004" also went to VIKING. The hedge trimmer HE 615 is one of the newest generation of VIKING hedge trimmers which was introduced to the market in April 2004. Besides its innovative technique it is above all simple and comfortable to use. The well-balanced centre of gravity and the ergonomic grip enables safety, comfortable and fatigue-free working in virtually all operating positions.
Both awards are further confirmations of VIKINGs successful premium brand-strategy: the shape and the function of the gardening tools is convincing, the independent design distinguishes itself clearly from the competition. Sports Sponsoring - VIKING making headlines again in soccer
VIKING's active role in sponsorship has made headlines again and this time in soccer. At the end of January 2004 VIKING made it possible to employ the former Russian world class goalkeeper Stanislav Cherchesov as the new head coach for FC Kufstein.
Something special has happened for FC Kufstein and also for the entire region. FC Kufstein's new coach is Stanislav Cherchesov. Thanks to the support of VIKING the former Russian national goalkeeper for 51 times now is now the new coach of FC Kufstein. The former star goalkeeper from FC Tirol played two different times at the world championships as well as on 2 different occasions at the European championships. In November 2003 he received the prestigious "Best Russian Sportsman" award.
For FC Kufstein president Hannes Bodner of course a huge blessing thanks in large part to VIKINGs support. VIKING's commitment in soccer is obvious. VIKING's Managing Director Heinrich Lechner: "As our activities take place as well on green lawns, it therefore makes a lot of sense to sponsor soccer. Especially in our region we want to make clear our support of sports. If FC Kufstein manages with the help of Stani Cherchesov to keep the soccer program well-maintained just as a VIKING lawnmower does for the lawn, there will be great momentum in Kufstein's soccer program."

National Award for "exemplary packaging" for VIKING garden shredders
In autumn 2003 VIKING has awarded a special prize. VIKING and its supplier for packaging - Duropack AG in Kalsdorf/Styria - received the Austrian National Award for "exemplary packaging".
The award is issued by the Austrian Ministry of Industry, Trade and Employment. VIKING/Duropack have won this prize for their intelligent packaging system for its new garden shredders. All seven parts of the shredder are packaged in a one-piece punched corrugated cardboard package, whereby no further inlays or stuffing material are required. Nevertheless in order to protect all parts from damage, integrated special deviders have been developed. The packaging is closed without staples or adhesive tape.
This innovation - quite a success for VIKING - is of great use as well for the servicing dealers but also for the consumers.
VIKING lawnmower "Tool of the Year!"
In the January-February 2003 issue of the renowned German specialised magazine "Heimwerker Test" (do-it-yourself-test) the VIKING lawnmower MB 555 M was chosen the tool of the year 2002/2003.
