VIKING lawn tractor receives "honourable mention" at "red dot award: product design 2008"
At the "red dot award: product design 2008", the VIKING T6 Series lawn tractor (model MT 6127 ZL) received an "honourable mention" for its particularly successful and innovative design solutions. This honour was bestowed for the first time this year. VIKING thus counts among the leaders in the design sector.
Evaluation of the submitted products is performed by an international panel of judges consisting of eminent design experts. The panel examines and tests the products, assessing them according to criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality, ergonomics, durability, ecological soundness and self-explanatory quality. This year, companies from 51 countries presented a total of 3,203 products to the judges for evaluation.
Background information on the "red dot award"
The "red dot design award", covering the disciplines of product design, communication design and design concept, is one of the largest of the leading design competitions world-wide. Since 1955, exceptional design quality has annually been selected by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen (Germany) and officially honoured during an exhibition. In the year 2000, the Design Innovations - as the competition was previously named - was given the new international name, "red dot award: product design". The manufacturers and designers of a wide variety of industrial products can apply for this coveted award, which bestows the "red dot" in 16 product groups.
