Tyrolean region needs flexible workforce

Leased Employees workforce at VIKING
The manufacture of products such as lawn mowers and garden shredders at VIKING is subject to strong seasonal fluctuation. This has given rise to a very close partnership between VIKING based in Langkampfen/Kufstein and the Tyrolean agricultural co-operative, "Maschinenring Tyrol". Up to 60 % of the products produced leave the VIKING plant in the period from January to April, because the strongest demand for garden products is in the springtime. Up until 1999, VIKING predominantly covered these peak periods using their permanent employees; however, due to inadequate ressources because of the company's continued growth, in 1999 an agreement was signed to utilize these valuable outside ressources. Whereas approx. 10 temporary workers were employed initially during the seasonal peak, this number has now grown to 56. The advantages are significang: sales are provided to the local community. VIKING benefits from extra ressources to be able to meet the demands of the marketplace.
